    Delphine Bedel

    Delphine Bedel works as photographer, curator and publisher, specialised in emerging publishing practice in photography, art and design. PhD Researcher at Leiden University/PhDArts. She regularly contributes to books and magazines, and is a frequent speaker in international conferences and seminars. Centre Pompidou, Paris, Pro-Helvetia, Zurich, Chelsea College of Art and Design London, De Appel, etc. Her work is shown internationally. Her artistic and research-based practice involves documentary photography and writing. Author of ‘All that is Solid Melts into Air – Notes on Tourism’.

    In 2009, she founded Monospace Press, a publishing studio focused on publishing innovative photography and graphic design projects. Monospace Press activities range from editorial consulting, custom publishing, education and research projects and curating lectures series, workshops and events. The 60 award winning editions are part of museum and private collections and exhibited internationally.

    Her current curatorial practice focus on publishing as artistic practice, also the topic of her PhD research. Co- founder of Amsterdam Art/Book Fair in 2011. Bedel is curating international exhibitions and screenings, among others the path-breaking trilogy on post-colonialism ‘Beyond Paradise’, at Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (with Ayako Yoshimura) in 2008, ‘Shared History / Decolonising the Image’ at W139 and Arti & Amicitiae, Amsterdam 2006, and ‘The Experience of Atopia’ Breda Photo 2008. She taught at the Geneva University of Art and Design / MFA (Visiting Professor 2009-2012), Dutch Art Institute/ArTEZ (2009-2011), Studium Generale Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam.
