Amica Dall ASSEMBLE

Amica is a founding member of Assemble, a non-hierarchical collective whose work focuses on the social and material processes through which cities are made, producing architecture, art, urban design and research. Amica works across the practice with a strong emphasis on leading and supporting self-initiated and long term, embedded projects. Aside from her work in Assemble, Amica teaches at the Royal College of Art and Architectural Association, is a trustee of Theatrum Mundi, an independent research charity that builds collaboration between performing arts and city making, and member of Construction Declares UK steering group. She has written for and broadcast on a range of platforms, including AA Files, Jahresring, UN Habitat / Routledge, Arts Council England and BBC Radio 4.

Assemble is a multi-disciplinary collective working across architecture, design and art. Founded in 2010 to undertake a single self-built project, Assemble has since delivered a diverse and award-winning body of work including the Turner Prize in 2015, whilst retaining a democratic and co-operative working method that enables built, social and research-based work at a variety of scales, both making things and making things happen.

Assemble have built and exhibited work around the world. They have set up and continue to future three embedded community organisations, Blackhorse Workshop (2011-), Baltic Street Adventure Playground (2013- ) and Granby Workshop (2015-), alongside running a range of affordable workspaces in London including Sugarhouse Studios and Fabric Floor. Alongside their built work, Assemble make furniture, ceramics and images, occasionally extending their work to include edited volumes, articles, radio shows, films, organisational consultancy and teaching.
