Workshop 1: Punctum Existentialum, Punctum Relativum, Punctum

    9 – 11.10.2023 Workshop 1

    Punctum Existentialum, Punctum Relativum, Punctum

with Anna Reutinger, Florence Parot, Andrea Lopez Bernal and Jerszy Seymour.

The workshop Punctum Existentialum, Punctum Relativum, Punctum serves as a meet and greet between yourself, your practice as it was, your practice as you think about it now, and as an opening for ideas of where you might like it to go in the future. Originally entitled ‘Punctum Proximum, Punctum Remotum, Punctum’ (coined by Stephane Barbier-Bouvet) as a process of mapping the ‘closest in focus and further in focus’ in your field of interests, the Punctum serves as a moment to open up and then to bring  everything together in a quick new gesture or work. The workshop highlights the continual process of working between theory, practice, knowledge and instinct in the department, as well as asking you to define your practice beyond the traditional contexts of artist, designer, pizza-maker, bank robber or street cleaner. The revolution could be described as the creation of new contexts.

The workshop is there to begin the process of discussion of where you really want to get to with the work, and inseparably, with your life, and to relate it clearly to what it means to do this work in the world today. The Punctum then, is just a beginning!
