Entrance / Roof

Entrance / Roof combines the need for cover in front of the Sandberg building with a gesture to point out a general lack of visibility from the street side. The front of both the Rietveld and Sandberg building consist of a sequence of dead spaces; a private car park, a neglected green bush surrounded by a small fence, a passage leading to the courtyard (that is really a back alley filled with waste containers) and something that resembles a dysfunctional office plaza primarily occupied by bikes. Taking an existing canopy (borrowed from ‘De Parade’) that is generally used in the context of festivals – it was immediately recognized as a sign for activity.

Entrance / Roof was a temporary intervention that came about during the DIY Rietveld week. Project in collaboration with Reinier Kranendonk and Chisom Ogundu.

During the closing event the bush provided some beer bottle easter egg action.
