Dirty Art Calendar

The calendar needs a toilet” ~ Kitty

The Dirty Art Calendar engages to involve the group dynamic of the Dirty Art Department and its social context in my personal practice; to collect data from these 24 carefully selected students and have them captured in a 12 page 365,25 days Gregorian calendar system – as an act of reciprocity.

In order to collect the 24 birth dates of the current draft of the D.A.D., I used Facebook as my research center, showing my complete trust in informatics – the science of processing data for storage and retrieval.
Like every first edition, the Dirty Art Calendar contains one mistake. There was one subject I couldn’t retrieve data from. Luckily, the month of September was unoccupied so I gave this untraceable student a private position.

The Dirty Art Calendar is mounted on a generic white tile background in the hallway near the toilets, and framed between two doorways and across three hand towels. The imagery used reflects the essence of each specific month. A Staedler pigment liner 0.3 hangs next to it, to make corrections, additions and suggestions if desired.
