Stijl Making Art by Still Making Art is a Bart Van Der Leck derived composition curating autonomous sculpture from Rotterdam.
Having very loose ergonomic requirements, the collective Still Making Art found the climbing grip as an object of pure unintentional sculpture. With a sponsor from Axis Round Edges the collective decided to reorientate this discovery by curating allocated autonomous pieces into a Bart Van Der Leck composition.
Looking towards contemporary modes of art and autonomy with regards to the loss of authorship and property of art works circulating the Internet, the work is a symbol and attempt to re–engage the traditional format of the institution reflecting on the modern vernacular of artists active in this free radical context. This manifestation, which progresses from the De Stijl colour palate to a fluorescent orange monochrome, celebrates the artistic attributes of the construction worker, or better known, autonomous artist. It questions in a current context which art format is more pure, and frames the possibility that historical and modern innovations of art can still intertwine together as one unanimous entity.
