Communal Leakings at MACAO, Milan

These pieces were produced on spot during a one-week residency at Macao in Milan – an independent center for arts, culture, and research. The today squatted building hosted a daily meat market in the past. Most of the materials were found in an abandoned wood workshop, located on the premises of a closed down industrial slaughterhouse, neighboring Macao. Remnants suggest that slaughtering and woodworking were practiced simultaneously. In fact, wood and meat were processed in the same location, but over a decade apart.
A Battery can be explained as a number of similar articles, items, or devices arranged, connected or used together. Plywood and flake boards are man-made woods. These engineered woods are an accumulation of similar sized wood chips, compressed and mixed with binders. Such material often used for constructions can be considered as wooden batteries.
