ICONIC TRIVIUM: PHYGITOPIA

ICONIC TRIVIUM: PHYGITOPIA is the Holy Trinity reimagined as a queer ecocentric
bathroom selfie fantasy. In this new trinity, the human, the non-human and the
arIficial are aligned, producing a speculaIve melIng pot where all are held on level
ground, funcIoning as a whole. Mirrors which distort and deform the viewer are held
by ornately carved frames of grotesque flora and fauna, while a hologram morphs
between lamb, tree, breast and buMerfly. For Meulenbeld, the importance of
recognising a phygital reality is a step towards a more equitable society.

Abachi wood, hand blown glass, LCD screen, acrylic paint, bathroom
